Abstract: An analytical study is made to investigate the effect of thermal radiation on unsteady MHD free convective mass transfer flow past a semi-infinite vertical porous plate with variable suction velocity. A uniform transverse magnetic field is applied normal to the plate. The non-dimensional governing equations are solved using simple perturbation technique. The effects of several physical parameters like Hartmann number (M), radiation parameter (Q), Grashof number (Gr), Soret number (Sr), etc. are studied graphically on velocity, temperature, concentration, skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number. The inferences found are that the fluid velocity and concentration of the species increase with Q and thereafter decrease, the temperature profile descends for higher values of Pr, the shear stress at the wall is lowered due to the effect of Hartmann number M and the magnitude of Sherwood number is raised with higher values of Q. |
