Abstract: In this paper, infiltration problems from single channel with various geometrical shapes are considered. The problems are governed by Richard’s equation. The equation can be studied more conveniently by transforming it into a modified Helmholtz equation. In this study, a dual-reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) is employed to solve the modified Helmholtz equation numerically. By using the solutions obtained, numerical values of matrix flux potential are then computed. The proposed method is tested on problems involving steady infiltrations from different types of single channel in a homogeneous soil. The numerical solutions obtained are then compared across the channel types. The results indicate that up to a certain point of depth, the matrix flux potential of flows on all types differ significantly. After that point, the matrix flux potential of all types are same. |
