THREE-DIMENSIONAL MIXED CONVECTION IN A VERTICAL CYLINDRICAL CONTAINER WITH ROTATING TOP
In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical study of mixed convection flow in a vertical cylindrical container having an aspect ratio is carried out. The container is filled with a liquid metal and the top disc is rotating with a fixed angular velocity and maintained at a cold temperature while the bottom disc is fixed and maintained at a hot temperature The side wallis adiabatic. Numerical results are obtained for different values of the Reynolds number and Richardson number Results show that the basic flow losses axi-symmetry and stability when the Reynolds number reaches high values, where the spiral mode appeared pure forced convection case). We clearly see the appearance of the mode where the global flow structure is a meridional circulation with the presence of small vortices, for (mixed convection case).
