AN EFFICIENT INTERFERENCE AVOIDANCE SCHEME FOR WPAN DEVICES USING 2.4GHz WLAN FREQUENCY

Abstract: The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is widely recognized as one of the most successful enabling technologies for short-range low-rate wireless communications and used in IoT application. It covers all the details related to the MAC and PHY layers of the IoT protocol stack. Although IEEE 802.15.4 is a promising standard for IoT applications, it is vulnerable to interference caused by WLANs utilizing 2.4GHz ISM frequency band. Thus, interference is a critical issue to be consistently addressed for enabling a successful WPAN operation with co-existing WLANs. In this paper, we propose PAN coordinate controlled interference avoidance scheme for IEEE 802.15.4 standard based WPANs using 2.4GHz WLAN frequency. |
