A generalized version of the exponential Pareto distribution has been proposed in this study using the quadratic rank transmutation map. The new generalization is called the transmuted exponential Pareto distribution. A comprehensive description of the statistical properties of this new distribution along with its reliability function, hazard and order statistics has been developed. The newly proposed distribution is useful in modeling lifetime data that is approximately symmetric.
