ADHESION PROPERTIES OF RUBBER TO STEEL JOINTS AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES
Rubber to metal adhesive bonding has been used in all kinds of industries for different purposes. In the mining industry, rubber to metal bonding has a special application on the covering of conveyor belts pulleys and can be done using an unvulcanized rubber or using an already vulcanized rubber adhesive joint. The purpose of this paper is to analyze rubber to steel joints, vulcanized and adhesive bonded, at different temperatures using the peel test. For this matter, rubber to steel joints were tested at 20°C, 50°C, 80°C and 110°C. Despite higher adhesion value from vulcanized joints, it is less practical to be performed onsite and demands special apparatus to be performed compared to adhesive bonding.
