THERMAL STRESSES DUE TO RAMP-TYPE HEATING IN A SEMI-INFINITE HOLLOW CIRCULAR CYLINDER
This paper deals with determination of thermal stresses in a semi-infinite hollow cylinder subjected to ramp-type heating on the lower face while outer curved surface and the inner curved surface are thermally insulated. The solution of heat conduction equation is obtained by using integral transform techniques. The results obtained are in series form in terms of Bessel’s function analytically. Then following the numerical values of the physical quantities are also computed for the copper material and the results are displayed in graphical form. Mathematical model has been also constructed with the help of numerical illustration.
