XPS AND EPR STUDY OF AND MIXED OXIDES OBTAINED BY SOL GEL METHOD
Vanadium-based compounds have received much attention in the last years due to their high and selective catalytic activity in major industrial reactions. In this work, the sol gel method was used to synthesize V2O5/SiO2, V2O5/TiO2, and V2O5/Al2O3 mixed oxides in V2O5 nominal proportions of 10%. All samples were submitted to calcination in muffle at 400ºC for 5 h. The materials obtained were characterized by XPS and EPR. The XPS results confirm the EPR observations and indicate the presence of V4+ and V5+ in the materials. The characterization results point to the possible use of these materials in catalysis.
