With the Riccati mapping method and a variable separation method, a series of variable separation solutions (including solitary wave solutions, periodic wave solutions and rational function solutions) to the extended (2 + 1)-dimensional shallow water wave (SWW) equation is derived. Based on the derived solitary wave solution, we obtain some special dromion structures in this short note.
