A NOTE ON RESIDUACITY AND CRITERIA FOR PRIME REPRESENTATION

Abstract:

We provide a new criterion for the fundamental unit, having norm ï¿½1, of a real quadratic order to be a quadratic residue modulo a given prime p and relate it to results in the literature that are more easily obtained with our approach.
