CLASS NUMBERS OF QUADRATIC FIELDS, MERSENNE NUMBERS, FERMAT NUMBERS, AND EXPONENTIAL DIOPHANTINE EQUATIONS
We examine criteria for the existence of cyclic subgroups of the class groups of quadratic fields via the solvability of certain exponential Diophantine equations. This extends results in the literature.
