Abstract: A perturbation
procedure is used in determining the effects of a small change in turbine blade
cross-section on its bending frequencies of vibrations. The first-order solution
of the frequency parameter shows that a small decrease
in the area of cross-section at a free end of wedge shaped
cantilever rotating beam, corresponds to an increase in the bending frequency of vibration - the relation
between them is approximately a linear one. The representations of the
-
relations upto third-order are obtained, and show a non-linear trend as
expected. For the higher-order solutions, a radius of convergence for is shown to be convergent. This
problem of determining the
-
relations for the turbine blade of variable cross-section is important for
engineers at an early stage of an expensive prototype turbine blade design.
