GENERALIZED p-VALUE APPROACH FOR MULTIPLE HYPOTHESIS TESTING IN MICROARRAY
Microarray is a powerful genomics technology with applications in biological research. Identification of differentially expressed genes is one of the most sought after problems in microarray data analysis. In the present study, multiple hypothesis testing of independent inverse Gaussian means based on the generalized p-value method is used to test the differential expression of individual genes. We used the blood cancer microarray data set to test the proposed method and compared it with the existing methods considering univariate testing problem for each gene. From the results, we can see that the procedure based on the generalized p-value technique identifies genes with a low level of false discovery rate compared to t-test.
