NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF CAVITATION FLOW IN A RECTANGULAR CROSS SECTION VENTURI NOZZLE
The cavitation phenomenon on a water flow along a rectangular cross section Venturi nozzle was numerically studied. The influence of Reynolds and cavitation numbers was analyzed. Furthermore, an experimental apparatus was used to visualize the effect, as well as the production of bubbles. The numerical analysis was developed based on the data available at TecQuipment H400 equipment manual, in order to compare, evaluate and validate the proposed computational model. The turbulence model employed was k-ε that properly represents the current flow. In conclusion, it was realized that the increase of volumetric flow and Reynolds number resulted in a reduction of cavitation number.
