CHAMOMILE, THE MIRACULOUS PLANT
Chamomile is a term generally referring to a number of plants from the family of Compositae and the secondary race Radiae that is comprised of various and different species and genera. These plant species are somewhat similar in terms of their outward look while there are differences seen more or less in them. Chamomile is amongst the oldest medicinal plants known to man. The people from Egypt and ancient Greece have been well aware of its medicinal properties and used it for treating some of the diseases. Two physicians from ancient Greece, named Plinius and Dioscorides, have given the name “Chamaemelum” to chamomile in their authored works and explained its treatment properties. Chamomile has been introduced as a medicinal plant in all of the credible pharmacopeia and the treatment properties of the flowers from this plant have been investigated. Chamomile is a plant that can grow everywhere and it is found growing in the wilderness in many of the regions around the globe. Amongst the various kinds of chamomiles, two types, Roman and German chamomile species, have been discussed herein.
