ESTIMATION OF POPULATION RATIO IN SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLING USING VARIABLE TRANSFORMATION IN THE PRESENCE OF NONRESPONSE
By considering a situation where there is nonresponse in the original data, this paper extends the work of Onyeka et al. [4] on the estimation of population ratio (R) of two population means using variable transformation under the simple random sampling scheme. Four estimators are proposed for the estimation of population ratio (R) under nonresponse using variable transformation. Properties of these estimators are derived up to first order approximation and efficiency conditions among the proposed estimators and over the customary ratio estimator are obtained. Expressions for optimum cost of survey are also derived. The results are supported and verified with numerical illustrations.
