Most card games begin by shuffling the cards, ideally producing a deck where every possible permutation of cards occurs with equal probability. There is a popular notion that 7 shuffle repetitions will produce a sufficiently random deck, but that number is based on a theoretical analysis of an abstract kind of shuffle.
