CT-BASED RECONSTRUCTION OF METAL FOAM COMPOSITE MATERIAL REINFORCED WITH CERAMIC SPHERICAL SHELL STRUCTURE
The CT-based reconstruction of metal foam composite material reinforced with ceramic spherical shell structure is necessary for the formation of 3D models used for finite element analyses. Two new algorithms were elaborated for the reconstruction. One of the algorithms is based on the inspection of the circular nature of the shapes seen on the CT images, the other one tries to fine the spherical shell structure contours also on the CT images by gradually increasing the radii. Both algorithms are suitable for making an adequately accurate 3D CAD model.
