A LENGTH-BIASED VERSION OF THE GENERALIZED GAMMA DISTRIBUTION

Abstract: This paper develops a length-biased version of the generalized gammadistribution. This is known as the generalized gamma length-biased (GGLB)distribution. The statistical properties of this distribution are discussed and studied. These properties involve the mean, the variance, the mode, the coefficient of skewness, the coefficient of kurtosis, the cumulative density function, the reliability function and the failure rate function (hazard function). It also estimates the parameters of distribution using the moments method and the maximum likelihood estimation method. The calculations are illustrated with the help of numerical example. |
