Abstract: Balanced, nested and cross nested designs are theoretically interesting since we have for them a highly satisfying theory. Nevertheless, they require a large number of observations and, for each group of factors that nest, the number of levels of the first factor must be small. We present an alternative to balanced nesting which overcomes these mishaps and show how to manipulate the models using Crossing and Nesting. |
Keywords and phrases: COBS, mixed linear models, estimation, commutative Jordan algebras. |
