Abstract: In multinomial scheme with stepwise sampling, maximum likelihood estimates of multinomial probabilities are improved when some frequencies are merged [4]. Also, Bayes estimates were applied with conjugate priors under the same condition and concluded Bayes estimates improved the variance of the multinomial probabilities even though Bayes estimators have some biases [5]. In this study, we develop stepwise sampling MLE and Bayes estimator of cell probabilities for 2 by 2 contingency tables. The results are compared using MSE and Bias. |
