Abstract: We study the interpretation of the concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) in this paper. By way of examples, we show that the CCC lacks the key desirable properties of a measure of strength of concordance and in particular, it does not have the monotone behavior as desired in such a measure. These pitfalls speak to the limitations of CCC and point to the need to exercise great caution when applying and interpreting this popular measure of reproducibility in practice. |
Keywords and phrases: agreement, concordance, Pearson correlation, reliability, reproducibility. |
