Abstract: Many practical queueing models are still analytically non-interpretable, so that it will be useful to obtain bounds and approximations of performance measures of such systems. In this paper, we obtain lower bound and new upper bound for the mean busy period of GI/GI/1 queue with breakdowns and FIFO-queue. Next, we consider an extension to the model of queue with retrial. Most of these results are based on some reliability concepts. |
Keywords and phrases: retrial queues, queue with breakdowns, busy period, bounds, ageing distribution, Sedyakin process, stochastic comparison. |
