Abstract: This paper derives an extension to related metric scaling that provides information on ecological studies, when the data consists of measures of species diversity (as the abundance or richness of species), considering the influence of some environmental factors. First, the paper reviews statistic background as it is needed to introduce the necessary notation and previous concepts. Second, it presents the new approach and shows that this extension properly works with samples taken from unusual sampling designs. Finally, investigates the malacofauna of the Beagle Channel caught by an epibenthic sledge during the Joint Magellan ?Victor Hensen? Campaign in 1994. |
Keywords and phrases: data representation, related metric scaling, canonical correspondence analysis, abundance of species, richness of species, environmental factors. |
