Abstract: In this article we employ likelihood-based methods to draw likelihood inference on the reliability of a series system composed of k independent subsystems. The data on each subsystem is based on type-2 censored sample (failure censoring). It is assumed that the parent distribution from which the censored sample of the i-th subsystem is generated is exponential with unknown mean Two likelihood-based methods are used; namely, the profile and conditional likelihoods. Numerical examples are provided and a comparison is made with respect to results obtained by the classical, frequency-based, approach. |
