Abstract: The experimental and numerical study on the heat
transfer between two spheres was
carried out by visualization of heat and fluid flow. The experimental data of
heat transfer were investigated from the view point of the mechanism of heat transfer, i.e., convection,
conduction and contact. The experimental results were compared with those
estimated using previously proposed equations. Although the computed contact
heat transfer using the method by Rong and Horio [4] agreed poorly with
the experimental one, the computed values approach more realistic ones
using the thermal resistance model
considering the effect
of surface roughness. Numerical
simulation was also performed. The simulated flow field agreed qualitatively
with the visualized one. |
