Abstract: In China, tire production has been growing rapidly with the growth of automobile production, while the carbon emission around the tire life cycle has become increasingly serious environmental problem. The tire product environmental footprint should be reduced as much as possible in the whole life cycle. In this study, the passenger car radial tire 205/55R16TE301 of Tire Co., Ltd. is used to analyze the carbon footprint of tire products, based on China automotive life cycle database (CALCD) and Ecoinvent 3 database. The results show that the total carbon footprint of a tire product life cycle is 1.46E+02kgCO2e. As conclusions, the carbon footprint of the tire in the use stage is the largest, accounting for 72.08% of the total. As improvements, white carbon black and graphene are suggested to replace carbon black as a filler to reduce the rolling resistance, and the delicacy management should be performed on energy, the energy consumption at the tire mixing and curing stage and other production stage to realize the energy-saving and emission reduction. |
